Removing unwanted tattoos or correcting permanent makeup tattoos that have gone wrong is never an easy task.

PicoSure™ is a new type of laser technology that works by using the photoacoustic effect to shatter tattoo pigments into tiny particles that can be easily removed by the body's immune system. Traditional laser treatments for tattoo removal require enough energy to break up the pigment into small pieces, but the resulting fragments are still too large for the immune system to clear effectively.

PicoSure™, on the other hand, uses extremely short pulses of high-energy light to break up the pigment into much smaller particles that can be more easily eliminated.

Compared to traditional laser treatments and even nanosecond lasers, PicoSure™ require fewer treatment sessions and can achieve better results with lower energy levels, thus reducing the risk of side effects such as scarring.

The number of treatment sessions required for tattoo removal depends on several factors, including the type and depth of the tattoo pigment, the size and location of the tattoo, and the individual's immune response.

Professional tattoos, which are typically deeper and use organic pigments, may require more treatments than amateur tattoos that are shallower and use simpler pigments like black or carbon powder. Black and dark blue pigments are generally easier to remove than light and bright colors like red, yellow, and green.

While most tattoos cannot be completely removed, they can be significantly faded with multiple treatments, allowing for cover-up options or further lightening with additional laser treatments.
